NIDA SEEKS EXCEPTIONAL CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Founded in 1958 as Australia’s National Institute of Dramatic Art, respected and known globally, NIDA is Australia’s preeminent performing arts educator.

NIDA’s unparalleled practice-based learning, connections to industry and culture of innovation, have produced some of the world’s most influential and in-demand storytellers across stage, screen and beyond.

The newly created position of Chief Operating Officer (COO) is in response to an increased operational intensity and complexity of NIDA as a dynamic, growing institution with a range of important and interdependent constituent stakeholders.

The COO joins the organisation at an exciting moment in NIDA’s history, building on NIDA’s incredible entrepreneurial DNA, to support an ongoing positive transformation to best position NIDA to provide the learning that will create future entertainment experiences.

Reporting to the CEO Liz Hughes, this senior executive role is responsible for ensuring overall efficient and effective day-to-day organisational operations, in addition to overseeing the scoping, funding and implementation of identified business transformation projects.

Deputising for the CEO as required, the COO plays a vital role in ensuring that the operational teams are cohesive, effective, efficient, and focused on NIDA’s overall vision and strategic priorities. The COO will drive exceptional internal communications across and between the Executive Team and throughout the organisation to ensure an informed and effective organisational culture.

This senior national role requires an enthusiastic knowledge and connection to the creative industries and/or higher education sector, and a record of leading organisational-wide strategic transformation projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of performing a COO, General Manager or Chief of Staff role in a similar organisation, and a willingness and history of creating positive cultural change.

The full-time position is based in the main campus, located in Kensington, Sydney on the traditional land and languages of the Bidjigal, Gadigal, Dharawal and Dharug peoples.
